Franz Wittmann has confirmeꦺd today that he has had to abort plans to compete on the Rallye Monte Carlo.

The 27-year-old had been hoping to return to the Intercontinental Rally 🐷Challenge in 2011 and was due to compete in January in the opening event oไf the season in a Peugeot 207 Super 2000. However yesterday he learned that Interwetten, his main sponsor, was pulling the plug on its involvement.

"We had a meeti𒆙ng with the people at Interwetten to sort things out. Unfortunately though, I was told that they plan to set different marketing activities next year ꦰfor business policy reasons," Wittmann said.

"I am nevertheless extremely grateful to Interwetten, and especially Wolfgang Fabian, fo♐r the support over the last two years. This co-operation enabled me to perform in rallying at the highest level and thereby introduce myself internationally.

"[However] this cancellation [now] creates a bu🅠dget hole that is too large to be filled without a main sponsor. From this moment on I will naturally try to find some partners who can help me to successfully continue my rally career in some form," he added.
