But the issue was quickl꧟y resolved, as the Australian headed back out for the final few minutes and went fastest ahead of Fabio Quartararo on his final flying lap.
It looked as though Quartararo was 🦩set to finish on top for the fourth consecutive session at Portimao, 𝓀but instead settled for second ahead of Joan Mir.
Fourth was Aleix ꦰEspargaro for Aprilia, while fifth was Franco Morbidelli - the same position as he starts today’s third race of the year.
In sixth position was the second Lenovo Ducati of Francesco Bagnaia, who will have work to do from 11th place t🥃his afternoon.
Seventh was championship leader Zarco. The French rider has a four point lead over the Yamahas of Quartararo and Maverick Vinales, and it was Vinales wh𒁃o finished one spot back in eigh♑th.
Rounding out the top ten were the KTM’s of Brad Binder in ninth and Danilo Petrucci in ꧅tenth.
Marc Marquez was the last rider out on track as he elected to miss most of the sessio෴n. The eight-time world champion only completed three flying laps.
As expected Marquezꦫ will face a tough race with 25 cꦰonsecutive laps - a distance the arm has not been put through in nine months. Therefore the Spaniard chose not to put too much emphasis on the warm up session.
It was a tough morning for🤡 Takaaki Nakagami as he once again struggled with his injuries suffered from Fri🗹day.
The Japanese rider headed out initially, but 🌌after a few laps could not finish the session and was visibly in some discomfort whilst sitting in the pit box.
