James Toseland wants an end to the 'playground' feud with team-mate Colin Edwards, which has literally divided the Monst🍒er Yamaha Tech 3 team in two heading into the 2009 MotoGP season.

The pair of double World Superbike cha꧒mpions enjoy𝓡ed an excellent relationship last year, but Edwards hasn't spoken to the Englishman since it was announced that his crew chief Garry Reynders was switching to Toseland's side of the garage for 2009.

A furious Edwards pr♒omptly tea𒆙med up with Toseland's former crew chief Guy Coulon, and has repeatedly expressed his delight at outpacing the #52 in winter testing.

Any hopes that Edwards might soft♕en his stance were extinguished at last weekend's Jerez test, when it was revealed that the Tech 3 pits will be divided by a wall this seಞason, as already happens (for competitive reasons) at Fiat Yamaha.

"It didn't have to happen like this and I can imagine why he feels the way he does," Toseland told BBC Sport. "We just need to sit in a room and talk about the situation, but he🦋's got💙 a wall in the garage like he wanted."

Toseland confirmed that 'communication problems' were the main reason for requesting a change of crew c𓄧hief.

"I had a communication problem with [Coulon] and thought another year of that and I could findᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚ myself without a GP ride," he said. "I've no problem with his ability as an engineer - it was about communication.

"He didn𒀰't speak English that well and with my Yorkshire slang, I think that made things difficult too," said Toseland. "I needed someone experienced who unde🎃rstood me to help me get where I wanted and to punch my weight."

The 28-year-old revealed that he spoke to team manager Herve Poncharal about his concerns as ear🍃ly as round three and, when the situation failed to improve, Toseland sa💖ys that Poncharal indicated a swap was possible.

Toseland doesn't regret the decision to swap crew ch☂iefs, but feels Edwards should have been notified at a far earlier stage.

"The♓ only problem was that there was no communication 𝔍going back to Colin, so all of a sudden he's told by Garry," confessed Toseland.

"In all the press y🏅ou c🧸an see how it looks - we're not talking to each other.

"I've got a slating off a lot of pe🌺ople and I've taken it all on the chin. It's playground stuff now and it didn't need to g🐈et to this," he added.

Toseland has suffered two hܫuge accidents while adapting to Bridgestone tyres during pre-season testing, while Edwards heads into the new season with a series of highly impressive performances under his belt.

The 2009൩ MotoGP season begins🔯 at Qatar on the evening of April 12.
