Ed Carpenter was awarded the pole for the Aventis Racing For Kids 100 after Panther Racing, which fields driver Mark Taylor, was penalized after failing a post-qualifyin♔g technical insไpection.

Freedom 100 winner Carpenter will start from the pole after a qualifying lap of 29.9746 seconds, 182.555 mph in the No. 14 F🍰utaba/Delphi/A.J. Foyt Racing Dallara-Infiniti. It is his second pole of the season. He won th൲e Freedom 100 from the pole in May at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Carpenter's lap was a s🌞eries record for the 1.5-mile oval, as the Infiniti Pro Series marks its first ꦐanniversary as the Indy Racing League's official development series.

Rookie Taylor appea🙈red to earn his second pole of the season with a top lap of 29.9444, 182.739 in the No. 4 Fulmar Panther Dallara-Infiniti.

However: Pursuant to Appendix B - Technical Specifications, Rule👍 100 (B) of the IRL Infiniti Pro Series Rule Book, Taylor's No. 4 Fulmar Panther Dallara-Infiniti failed post-qualifying technical inspection and had its time disqualified, moving Taylor to the back of the starting field, said Roger Bailey, Infiniti Pro Series executive director.

Taylor may appeal the imposition of the penalty within the time and in the manner prescribed in Section 12.1 of the Rule Book. An appeal may result in an increase, decrease or no change to the penalty.

USAC short-track standout Aaron Fike will start second after posting a qualifying run of 30.0385, 182.166 in the No. 91 RFMS/Hemelgarn Racing entr🌌y. Fike won 💜the last race, the Pikes Peak 100 on June 14.

Rookie Jeff Simmons qualified third at 30.1512, 181.485 in the No. 20 Western Union Speed Team Dallara-Infiniti. Brandon Erwin qualified fourth at 30.1755, 181.339 in the No. 99 Natura♚l Golf/Sam Schmidt Motorsports Dallara-Infiniti.

Arie L🔯uyendyk Jr. rounded out the top five at 30.2101, 181.131 in the No.൩ 5 Dallara-Infiniti fielded by Sinden Racing Service.
