After back-to-back Independents' titles, 2009 saw Colin Turkington step 🤪up to the plate to b♕ecome overall BTCC champion for the first time.

The Team RAC man started the season with two podiums at Brands Hatch and took a first win of the yea🦹r at Thruxton - with fiv❀e further wins coming later in the year.

Two victories at bot💞h Oulton Park and Croft saw Turkington move into the of the standings and while his final win of the season came at Snetterton - with twelve races still to go - the Northern Irishman d🅘rove with his head to regularly pick up points and hold off the challenge of Jason Plato and Fabrizio Giovanardi.

A more mature, more aggressive Turkington also picked up the I🅷ndependents' title for the third successive season and was crowned as your top driver for the season following our vote.
