After back-to-back Independents' titles, 2009 saw Colin Turkington step up to the plate to become overall BTCC champi🐟on for the first time.

The Team RAC man started the season with two podiums at Brands Hatch and took a first win o꧃f the year at Thruxton - wit🧜h five further wins coming later in the year.

Two victories at bot🔥h Oulton Park and Croft saw Turkington move into the of the standings and while his final win of the season came at Snetterton - with twelve races still to go - the Northern Irishman drove with his head to regularly pick up points and hold off the challenge of Jason Plato and Fabrizio Giovanardi.

A more mature, more aggressive Turkington al👍so picked up the Independents' title for the third successive season and was crowned as your top driver for the se﷽ason following our vote.
