Mercedes and Pirelli reprimanded for tyre test

International Tribunal confirms verdict on 'secret' tyre test by Mercedes and Pirelli, with both getting reprimands, while the former is also banned from taking part in this year's Young Driver Test

Mercedes and Pirelli have both reprimanded for the 'secret' tyre test following last m🐲onth's 2013 F1 Spanish Grand Prix, it has been confirmed, with Mercedes has also being banned from taking part in this year's Young Driver test.

The In🎐ternational Tribunal convened yesterday [Thursday] in Paris with its verdict released today.

A statement posted on the FIA's website read:

The following hearing of the Intꦕernational Tribun⭕al took place in Paris on Thursday 20 June 2013.

Disciplinary procedure against Merc🍰edes and Pirelli (2013 FIA F💧ormula One World Championship).

Reminder of the facts

On 5 June 2013, further to protests lodged during the 2013 Monaco GP by Red Bull Racing and Ferrari Scuderia Team against cars number 9 and 10 (Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team) for having conducted wi൲th Pirelli a three day tyre testing using a 2013 car on 15, 16 and 17 May in Barcelona, the President of the FIA, acting as the FIA Prosecuting Body, sent to the President of the International Tribunal a notification of charges against Pirelli and a notification of charges against Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team.

On 5 June 2013, Pirelli and Mercedes AMG Petron🌳as F1 Team have been convened by the Pres🦋ident of the International Tribunal to appear before a judging panel of the International Tribunal.

Decision of the International Tribunal

The Tribunal, after having heard the𝓀 parties and examined their submissions, decided that:

1. Mercedes be reprimanded;
2. Mercedes be suspended from participating in the forthcoming "three day young driver training test";
3. Pirelli be reprimanded.

and rejected all other and further conclusions.

The International Tribunal was presided over by Mr Edwin Gla🎐sgow QC (Great Britaiꦚn), and included Mr Christy Harris (United States), Mr Patrick Raedersdorf (Switzerland) and Mr Anthony Scott Andrews (Great Britain).
