Reigning Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton has revealed that he changes his driving style “every year” in his constant pursu✱it for improvement.
Even at 35-years old and with six world 🌼championships and 84 career wins to his name, Hamilton remains motivated to further improve himself on a year-by-year basis and h♛as previously spoken about his desire to perfect his craft.
Speaking in a joint interview with his Mercedes boss Toto Wolff, and chaired by Sky F1’s Martin Brundle, Hamilton insiste🍸d there is a♋lways room for improvement in his and the team's efforts to get better.
“You can always improve,” Hamilton explained.
“We didn’t win every race l🗹ast year – there are 𝓀areas that we stumbled and there are so many elements [in winning].
“There’s always areas we can improve. As a driver, how I can improve communication with my teaꩵm and mechanics and the guys back at the factory? But also as a driver, [how can I] deliver better performances?”
When Brundle sug🌱gested that changes to driving technique would not be among the tweaks made in the quest for improvement, Hamilton imme🔯diately responded saying: “Every year I do.
“Every year, and even through the season the technique’s evolving. This year for example we’ve got the same tyres as last year, but last year, the whole yꦗear was an issue [with ♌the tyres].
“So there’s still subtle techniq🌳ues which I’m going to have to adapt, wꦑith also a different car.
“And that’s part of the game, is being able to be adaptive, and we’ve got this new car – I don’t know ho🥀w it’s going to handle, hopefully she’s great.”
When the delayed 2020 season does eventually get underway following the disruption caused by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Hamilton will have the chance to equal Michael Schumacher’s record 🌸of seven world championships, while he could also surpass the German’s feat of 91 grand prix victories.
