Romain Grosjean is hopꦍeful of returning to Renault’s Formula 1 team at some point in the future when he can fight for a world championship, but has called a 2018 comeback “premature”.

Grosjean made his F1 debut with Renault back in 2009 before returning to the Enstone operation - which had become Lotus - in 2012, remaining there until the end of the 2015 s🌟eason.

Grosjean has since joined Haas andܫ is set to remain with the American team for a third year in 2018, as confirmed by team owner Gene Haas last month.

“It was not such a big surprise for me, I’ve known this since September 2015. So I would call it💦 a normal continuation, and things are great,” .

“The team is doing well and I want to help it grow bigger. Of course, if one day there is the chance to be world cham✨pionꩲ, then great.”

Renault is known to be evaluatin🐼g a number of drivers for a seat in 2018 alongside Nico Hulkenberg, with Grosjean linked given his history with the brand and the notion of a French driver representing a French team.


Grosjean denied having spoken with Renault about a 2018 seat, 🍰but did admit he would like to return to the team some day.

“No, I hav🍷en’t talked wi꧙th Renault,” Grosjean said.

“Going back tღo Renault one day would be lovely, but it should be the time when we really could be world champions together.

“That would be a superb sit💟uation, but right now it is a bit premature.”
