BMW, Asmer lead way on day 1.
BMW Sauber tester Marko Asmer topped the times on Tuesday as F1 testing began at the Jerez de la Frontera circuit in the extreme 🍬south of Spain.
Asmer wa൲s one of only three drivers on track as part of the so-calle👍d 'Young Driver Day'. In total the Estonian did 79 laps, his best a 1 minute 21.581 seconds, as he worked on basic set-up to improve his skills as a test pilot.
F3 Euro Series man Daniel Clos meanwhile ran for Williams, notching up 75 tours, hi🍬s quickest a 1m 23.224s. It was his first ever run in an F1 car.

"After successful preliminary t🃏ests ofℱ the KERS flywheel today, the team will be undertaking more component testing tomorrow, part of which will include 2009 aero parts and rear wing," said Williams technical director, Sam Michael.
Mike Conway was the only other runner ♉on track. However, he only did 20 lap🦹s for Honda.
"We are testing in Jerez next week for four days," said Ho𝐆nda team principal, Ross Brawn on Sunday following the Italian GP, "but the focus there will be on projects for the 2009 car and in particular the KERS system [rꩵather than the final long haul races]."
Testing now continues tomorrow with a further five𝐆 teams due to join the fold, namely McLaren, Renault, Toyota, Red Bull Racing and Toro Rosso.
