📖Manabu Orido secured his place in World Touring Car Championship history at Macau by becoming the firs🐼t Japanese driver to score points in the series.

Orido joined the works Chevrolet team for the final four race weekends of🍌 the year but had failed to trouble the scorers prior to the trip to the challenging ꦬMacau street circuit.

The chances of pickin✱g up points appeared slim when Orido was sent to the back of the grid for the first race after failing to stop at the weighbridge on two occasions.

He managed to take the chequered flag in 16th place in race one but in race two, he was able to survive the carnage around him to come home in seventh place an✤d secure two championship points in his final race with 🐻the team.

"I had to start race one last as I had lost all my qualifying times when I had failed to stop for scrutineering in that session," he said. "Buꦆt I managed to work my way up from the back of the grid to 16th, so I can say I had a good first race.

"Starting from that position in race two, I couldn't have dreamed to finish in the points but one by one the guys in front of me fell by the wayside and▨ I manag🧜ed to finish seventh. I am very proud to be the first Japanese driver ever to score points in the WTCC, and also to have been able to score points for Chevrolet towards the Manufacturers' Championship.
