In what looked like a repeat of Saturday’s race one, heavy rain fell around 💟15 minutes before the race was scheduled to begin. This comes after today’s earlier race one was also delayed by 15 minutes.
However, conditions improved relatively 💯quickly for that race, albeit the rain was nowhere꧃ near as heavy.
It’s a race that wa💧s won by six-time world champio♚n Jonathan Rea, while a new WorldSBK champion was crowned in Toprak Razgatlioglu.
The Pata Yamaha rider fin🥂ished six tenths behind his rival which was enough to secure the title despite being a win ahead (25 points).
Rea, who has one win less than Razgatlioglu heading into race two, cannot be crowned champion even if he finished on the same number of points due to Razgatlio༒glu winning more feature races in 2021.
During the latter🍌 stages of race one it looked as though Rea would be able to delay Razgatlioglu’s championship celebrations, as the Turkish rider was over a second behind Rea and Scott Redding following a turn 15 mistake.
But ওRazgatlioglu was able to close in on Reddi🧜ng with two laps left before making a move into turn one.
Redding, who was third in the championship ♍heading into today's doubl𒅌e-header, needed to outscore Rea by 37 points over the two races to overhaul the Northern Irishman for second in the standings, something he failed to do after finishing third.
