Th✅e Donington Park round of the 2020 WorldSBK Championship has been pushed back to later in the season after Dorna confirmed how it intends to restart the season with three events locate✅d on the Iberian Peninsula.

The British World🍒SBꦦK round, due to take place on July 2-4, had remained on the schedule as others were either rearranged or cancelled, but few expected it to go ahead as planned amid talk that the season was set to get back underway on August 2 at Jerez.

That has now been confirmed, with Dorna revealing it has postponed Donington Park to later in the season, though it hasn’t arranged a new date for the eve꧑nt.

Instead, the second round of the season looks set to take place on July 31-August 2 at Jerez, directly after MotoGP hosts two races at the Andalusian circuit 🧔on July 19 and July 26.

Dorna says the plan is then to travel across the ✱border to Portimao in Portugal for the following weekend on August 7-9, with Motorland Aragon hosting ꧒the fourth round of the season on August 28-30.

As well as Donington Park, Assen – which𒅌 had already been moved from April to August – has been pushed back again, though it too rema🌌ins without a date for the time being.

“We are very positive about the future, as all the signs a𓃲re pointing in a good direction to start in Jerez. We are looking at all possible scenarios for all three classes to race,𝔉 although we continue to work hard on finding the optimum scenario for all parties.,” said WorldSBK Executive Director Gregoria Lavilla.

“A lot will depend on the measures tha🔴t various governments will implement. As for Donington Park and Assen, we are working with the cir🐷cuits and governments to establish the best possible outcome for all, with the intention to hold those rounds towards the end of the 2020 season.”

The news of Donington Park’s postponement comes on 🎀the day Dorna confirmed💦 the British MotoGP at Silverstone has been cancelled for 2020.
