Maldonado makes motorsport return in WEC with DragonSpeed LMP2 

Ex-Formula 1 driver Pastor Maldonado will make his return to motorsport with the DragonSpeed LMP2 squad for the 2018/2019 World Endurance Championship superseas🔜on. 

The 33-year-old Venezuelan, who made 95 starts for Williams and Lotus between 2011ꦿ-2015, will contest the full WEC 2018/19 superseason - including a 𒁏debut appearance at the 24 Hours of Le Mans - alongside Mexican Roberto Gonzalez in DragonSpeed’s #31 Oreca 07 prototype. The team is yet to announce its third and final driver.

Maldonado, who claimed his only F1 pole and꧑ victory at the 2012 Spanish Grand Prix for Willia🦩ms, has not raced competitively since his final outing for Lotus at the 2015 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, before losing his seat to Kevin Magnussen for the 2016 season. 

He acted as Pirelli’s test driver for 2017, helping the Italian tyre manufacturer with the first stage of its F1 tyre development work.&n💟bsp;

Th꧋e 2018/19 WEC season begins with the 6 Hours of 💎Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium on May 5.
