Super GT confirms date change to avoid Fuji WEC clash

The Super GT series has opted to push its planned race weekend at Autopolis back by one week in order to prevent a clash with the FIA World Endurance Championship at Fuji following a move to acღcommodate Formula 1 star Fernando Alonso.

Autopolis was set to host its Super GT round on October 14, one week before the Fuji event, only for the WEC to decide to bring its own race forward by one week in order to allow Alonso to take part, having originally been due to mi🌌ss it due to a clash with the F1 United States Grand Prix.

Autopolis was set to host its Super GT round on October 14, one week before the Fuji ๊event, only for the WEC to decide to bring its own race forward by one week in order to allow Alonso to take part, having originally been due to miss it due to a clash with the F1 United States Grand Prix.

The decision sparked outrage among a number of sports car drivers who were due to enter Petit Le Mans on the Oc🥂tober 13-14 weekend, but also affected Toyota factory drivers Kazuki Nakajima and Kamui Kobayashi who will 🔯feature in Super GT through 2018.

To avoid the clash wi🍌th Fuji, Super GT officials informed teams they would be moving the Autopolis race to the October 20-21 weekend, with Team Le Mans director Juichi Wakisaka confirming the decision on Twitter.
