Sunday's live Austrian MotoGP TV broadcast showed in ꦆshocking detail just how close Maverick Vinales and especially Valentino Rossi came to being hit by the cartwheeling bike of Franco Morbidelli.

But ♎other camera angles revealed Vinales also narrowed avoided being struck by the remains of Johann Zarco's Ducati, as the broken machine flew over his head.

While Morbidelli's Yamaha🎉 flipped down the edge of the track before crossing betweeꦫn the Monster machines, Zarco's bike speared into a tyre wall before being flipped up in the air and towards Vinales.

"I just heard the scratching sound of crashed bikes and then I felt t🌺he impact of Johann's bike hitting the wall. Then, when I looked, I saw one bike coming towards me and I covered my head and the bike jumped up," Vinales sa💎id.

"For sure we were very lucky♉ today, someone saved us."

The Spaniard also added his voice to those that feel that the 300km/h left-hand kink, immediatelꦬy followed by a 50km/h right-hander, is 'really dangerous'.

"This c𒆙orner, Turn 3, we say every time that it's really dangerous. They need to do something, because it's really easy to crash there," Vinales said.

"I nearly crashed in the warm-up. I locked the fr🔴ont and ⭕went a bit towards the walls, and that was scary."

Slipping clutch for three laps

Vinales had been in sixth place when the race was stopped, but the restart woul⛄d be prob🌠lematic from the off.

"♋In Race 2, we had a big problem with a slipping clutch for three laps. I raised my hand just in case someone didn't see me," said Vinales, who dropped to last place due to the issues. "I did three laps like that and was thinking to end the race, but then it started to work again and luckily we can take 5 points [for tenth].

"The good point is at the end of the race I was riding fast and could overtake many riders, which is good. But anyway it's difficult to keep the motivation be🅷cause I can do perfect practices, perfect☂ qualifying, but when the race arrives always something happens."

He added:𒊎 "Something Yamaha have to improve, or we have to improve in the box. I'm waiting for the time when the bike is going well in the race also."

'I don’t even think about the championship'

World championship leader Fabio Qua👍rtararo also had technical difficulties ꦺon Sunday, with his brakes, and only managed eighth place.

But th𝓡at was of little consolation to a visibly frustrated Vinales, who is now 19 points behind the P🤪etronas Yamaha rider and has lost second in the standings to Sunday's winner Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati).

"Well I don’t even think about the championship," Vinales said. "It's hard to believe with all these kinds🅰 of mistakes you can win a championship🅰. So I don’t even think about it.

"I think to push at the maximum on the bike when the bike is going good. You can see I'm always in the top three and doing pole position, but when the bike doesn't go you cannot𒉰 make… very dif𝐆ficult to overtake the riders, you cannot jump them on the brakes, so it's something difficult.

"But anyway, I will keep patient and waiting my moment and we will see. But for sure I don’t even think of the championship because right not it seems it's complicated with the thi🐟ngs we have under theꦬ seat."
