Owens hopeful of second GP chance after Silverstone cancellation
British Supersport star Josh Owens is aiming to get a✤ second chance at his Moto2 deb༺ut after his wild-card entry to the British round was canned by Silverstone track issues in the wet.
Owens, who competes on Moto2-specification machinery in BSS’s GP2 Cup, raised £13,500 with the help of sponsors and other backe🀅rs to secure the en🦂try fee into the British round last weekend.

Owens, who competes🍷 on Moto2-specification machinery in BSS’s GP2 Cup🍸, raised £13,500 with the help of sponsors and other backers to secure the entry fee into the British round last weekend.
The British rider made solid progress during the Silverstone race weekend by getting up to 13th on the Sunday warm-up times before heavy rain arrived which triggered the cancellation of all races due to safety concerns with the resurfa💖ced track unable to drain standing water sufficiently.
As a ๊result, Owens was unable to take part in his Grand Prix r🐻ace debut and saw his efforts wasted but he is hoping organisers IRTA and DORNA can grant him a second wildcard entry in the future.
“We are gutted but 💛no one can control the weather,” Owens said. “The track should of been in better condition but that is something for the people up at the top to discuss.
“All we would l♚ike is if the IRTA and Dorna would grant us entry as a wildcard to another round. This would allow me to show everyone that i can mix it at world level and to actually fulfil theꦗ dream of being a Grand Prix racer.
“It may be an option it may not, myself and no one around me blames MotoGP, IRTA or Dorna we justﷺ hope they may give us the chance.”
During the build-up to Silverstone round, Owens set-up a GoFundMe🌺ꦡ page to help cover the costs of his wild-card entry.
“I am gutted about the cancellation and half of me thinks that possibly my big chance has gone but the other half is trying to be realistic,” he ♎said. “I showcased what I can do and I know with more track time there was more from me and the bike to co🤡me.
“Team RS Racing worked tirelessly thiওs weekend and I can’t thank Ryan and the lads enough.
“Thank you to my sponsors who helped me get me here. You are allowing me to pursue a♛ dream many can’t and for that I am forever grateful.
“To everyone who donated thank you isn't enough, you didn't have to help but you did and I hope I did you 𝔍all proud. I am sorry I coul🌄dn't reward you with a decent race result.”
Owens will now re🍷turn to BSS action with the next round at Silverstone - which will be run on the National circuit due to track safety concerns.
