Generous gesture by Dorna boss
Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta has been revealed as the winning bidder for a special 'Super SIC' Honda CBR1000RR, auctioned off on eBay to raise funds for the Marco Simoncelli F🐭oundatio🎐n.
According to Spanish sportspaper , Ezpeleta provided the highes🎉t bid at just over 50,000 euros - then raised it to 58,000 in further honour of Simoncelli, who raced with the #58.
Instead of taking ownershi🐼p of the bike, Ezpeleta will hand it back to Simoncelli's parents.
"We are deeply moved. This gesture will stay in our hearts," Marco's father Paolo is quoted as sa🔯ying.
Former 250cc worl🎃d champion Simoncelli lost his life during last October's Malaysian MotoGP race.
The special CBR had been presented to Marco's father, along with Simoncelli's RC212V race bike, ♛by HRC vice president ꩵShuhei Nakamoto.
