Robert Wickens has been transferred to a hospital close to his Indianapolis home as he continues his recovery from injuries𒊎 he sustained in a huge IndyCar crash. 

The Schmidt Perterson Motorsports driver was caught up in a multi-car incident on th🐲e opening lap of the Pocono race nearly two weeks ago that resulted in his car being thrown into the cꦉatch fencing at high-speed. 

Wickens broke his right arm,𒉰 both legs and suffered an injury to his spine in the violentཧ crash. He was confirmed to be breathing unassisted and talking to his family last week and has since been moved to a hospital closer to his home, where the Canadian is set to undergo an operation on his "lower extremities". 

"Schmidt Peterson Motorsports driver Robert Wickens was transferred to IU Health Methodist Hospital on Thursday August 30 to continue treatment in his home𓃲 of Indianapolis," a tea😼m statement from SPM read.

"He will soon undergo furtheꦗr surgery on his lower extremities.

"Wickens had been in the care of Lehigh Valley 🦩Ho✨spital-Cedar Crest since his August 19 incident during the IndyCar event at Pocono Raceway.

"The Wickens family and SPM organis♔ation want to thank the surgeons, nursing team and the staff at the LVHN facility for their care of Robert the last 12 days."

Carlos Munoz has been confirmed as Wickens' replacement🐈 in the #6 SPM-Honda entry for the final two rounds of the 2018 season.
