Josef Newgarden has suffered injuries to h🐬is shoulder and wrist after being involved in a spectacular accident during the latest round of the IndyCar Series at the Texas Motor Speedw💞ay, but is hopeful he will return to action soon.

The American was caught out when Conor Daly ahead got out of shape round turn four and spun up the track, coll𒊎ecting the unfortunate Newgarden and pinning his car against the wall on its side.

Sliꦓding across the track, Newgarden suffered a second impact against the wall at the bend that leads across the finish line - with the car still on its side - as his Ed Carpenter machine and Daly's Dale Coyneꦛ car came to a halt.

Though Newgarden initially got out of his Ed Carptenter Racing car, h🎶e collapsed after a few steps and was tended to by medical crews. Transferred by air to hospital in Dallas, Newgarden was diagnosed with a fr♈actured right clavicle and a small fracture on his right hand. Daly was unhurt.

"The car held up great and the response fro𓆏m the safety team was amazing," he said. "I'm banged up a little bit, ꦗbut I'm generally OK.

"That's alܫl thanks to INDYCAR and all the work everyone within the series does. I am feeling a little pain but I hope to be ready to rock and go again soon. We had a great car today, it just did not go how we ha𒐪d planned."

The race itself was postponed on lap 71 when heavy rain in the area forced a stoppage. Organisers have announced the remaining laps will b𒁃e completed in August at a rescheduled event.
