FIA updates Super Licence points for 2018
The FI🌊A has updated its Super Licence points reward system for 2018,💛 placing a greater focus on Formula 2 as the final step towards reaching Formula 1.
The points system for gaining an FIA Super Licence required to 🍒race in F1 was introduced in 2016, with drivers requiring 40 points through a three-year period.
Changes have been made for 2018 to enc🐓ourage ꦚdrivers to pass through F2 before reaching F1, aiding the FIA’s push for a pyramid structure for junior single-seater motorsport.

The points system fo🦋r gaining an FIA Super Licence required to race🦄 in F1 was introduced in 2016, with drivers requiring 40 points through a three-year period.
Changes have been made for 2018 ꦬto encourage drivers to pass through F2 before reaching F1, aiding the FIA’s puღsh for a pyramid structure for junior single-seater motorsport.
Previously, a full 40 points was awarded for a top-three fini🤪sh in GP2 or winning the title in IndyCar, FIA Europ🏅ean Formula 3, Formula E or the WEC’s LMP1 class.
As of 2018, this will only be awarded for a top-three finish in F2 or winning the IndyCar championship, with the other ღseries facing points cuts.
Title wins in European F3, Formula E or WEC LMP1 will now be worth just 30 points, while the GP3 ti𓆉tle is cut from being worth 30 points to 25.
Formula V8 3.5 faces a points cut from 35 to 20 for winning the drivers’ championship, although WEC LMP2 has now become applicable for points, as have Super GT, NASCAR and IMꦉSA title wins.
