The Estonian was the man to beat through tricky conditions in qualifying at Imola, heading t🐲he timesheets for much of the session.

Wet conditions and several ꧅red flag stoppages didn't stop Vips, who will be eyeing a promotion to AlphaTauri for 2023.

Vips' 1m40.221🐬s proved to be untouchable as he took to the timesheets as the light faded at Imola.

With the delays to F1 qualifying and red flags in F2, the sun was quickly sett🌠ing making visibility difficult for the drivers.

It was Vips' first pole position of the year🐼 as h💞e looks to close in on current points leader Felipe Drugovich. 

Vips is ꦺcurrently 15 points behind the Brazilian, who qualified 12th.

Behind Vips was Ayumu Iwasa in the DAMS, with Jack D🐠oohan completing the top three.

Ralph Boschung was fourth✃ for Campos ahead of Denn๊is Hauger, while Roy Nissany impressed with sixth.

Theo Pourchaire only managed seventh ahead of𝓰 Jehan Daruva𒀰la, Marcus Armstrong and Logan Sargeant.

D💛avid Beckmann was a solid 11th on his return, replacing the injured Cem Bölükbaşı.

Completing the top 15 were Drugovich, Cle🐬ment Novalak, Liam Lawson and E🔜nzo Fittipaldi.

Olli Caldwell caused the first re♏d flag of the session after an off at Turn 3 i♕n the early phase of qualifying.

He will start from 21st on the grid.
