Aston Martin has confirmed it has taken up its option to renew Vettel’s contract for𝐆 2022 after the four-time world champion agreed an initial one-plus-one deal when h🉐e joined the team from Ferrari over the winter.

The identity o💖f Vettel’s teammate was never in doubt, with Lance Stroll, the son of Aston Martin owner Lawrence, staying put for a fourth campaign at the Silverstone-based outfit.

Stroll has a⛦ccrued 24 points to Vettel’s 35 so far this year, with Vettel being then only driver to stand on the podium for Aston Martin this season, finishing second in Baku.

Vettel also claimed second place on the road at the Hungarian Grand Prix but lost the podium - and 18 points that came with it - when he was disqualified for a fuel inf𝓰ringeꦰment.

“I am really looking forward to racing the new generation of Formula One cars," said Vettel. "Their look is very different and the new technical regulations should give us cars that can race much more clo🦂sely than recently.

"More exciting racing will be great for the drivers as well as for the fans. The changes are so big that every team will🔴 be st🔥arting from a new beginning, so it will be a great opportunity for us at Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One Team.

"I believe in the strength of our new growing ꧃team, so I&nb♉sp;am already looking forward to 2022.”

Aston Martin has struggled to repeat its competitiveness of 2020 and currently sits seventh♏ in the co📖nstructors’ championship.

The British squad trials sixth-placeꦫd AlphaTauri by 25 points and is 36 points adrift of Alpine, which currently holds P5.

Aston Martin team owner Lawrence Stroll said: “The first ever season for Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One Team got off to a disappointing start, owing to the 🍒regulatory changes over the winter that disadvantaged the two te🌳ams whose cars utilise a low-rake aero philosophy.

"But we have made good progress over the past few months, and both Lance and Sebastian have delivered some excellent performances. They have had more than their fair share of bad luck, but in 2022 we are delighted to be continuing with such an excellent blend of youth꧑ful talent and ex𓂃perienced expertise.”
