Pierre Gasly says💃 one of his career ambi🎃tions is to compete at the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans having grown up watching the race.
While the AlphaTauri driver remains committed to his🌜 Formula 1 career, as he waits to start his third full campaign in the sport amid the coronavirus crisis, Gasly explained why he is drawn to the iconic endurance race and hopes to take part in it in the future.
“Obviously I would love to do that, especially as I lived in Le Mans from when I was 13 until I was 18. I got to see the race as a spectator and t♏hen inside the paddock and it is clearly something that excites me. I would love to participate one day,” Gasly said.
F1 drivers have enjoyed recent success at Le Mans, with Nico Hulkenberg winning on his debut during his short stint com꧋peting for Porsche back in 2015, while more recently two-time F1 world champion Fernando Alonso became a double Le Mans winner with Toyota in 2018 and 2019.
Gasl♐y took part in an AlphaTauri Q&A from Dubai having arrived there from the cancelled Aꦆustralian Grand Prix.
“We decided to come direct here to train as we planned ♊to before Bahrain. We looked at the situation in Italy where I live and the airports were already closing so it wasn’t possible, nor was it possible to go back to France where my🅰 family is, and as I had already travelled a lot I didn’t want to risk going back to my family,” he explained.
