Australian Grand Prix organisers have ꦯconfirmed nine individuals have been tested for the coronavirus, including one positive test for a McLaren team member, w🧔ith the race plunged into doubt.

McLaren confirmed it has withdrawn from the Australian🥀 GP after a team member tested positive for the COVID-19 virus, while eight other personnel have also beꦅen tested and returned negative results. Seven of those with negative results are from within the F1 paddock, one working for McLaren, four for Haas and two other contract workers respectively, while another individual has been tested who is not connected to any F1 team or sport organisation.

Australian GP organisers and F1 officials are currently holding talks over the next s🅰teps with a decis𒈔ion on whether the race will go ahead, postponed or cancelled expected imminently.

“The Australian Grand Prix Corporation and Formula 1 have been advised by the Victorian Chiefꦏ Health Officer of the results of tests relating to eight personnel from the Formula 1 Paddock,” the Australian GP statement read.

“Of these eight tests, seven individuals have re💛turned a negative result confirming that they 🌞do not have the COVID-19 virus.  An eighth individual has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.

“It has been confirmed that the individual was a member of the McLaren Racing Team. 𒐪As a result of this, McLaren has announced its withdrawal from the Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix 2020.

“The AGPC is currently in discussiꦏons with Formula 1, the FIA and the Department of Health and Human Services in relation to the broader implications of this test result. 

“Additionally, a ninthꩲ individual has been assessed and tested for the COVID-19 virus, with the results of this test pending. This individual is not associated with any Formula 1 team, the FIA or associated supplieꦍrs.
