Charles Leclerc named FIA Rookie of the Year at St. Petersburg gala
Charles Leclerc has 🌜been named the FIA's Rookie of the Year for the second year in a row fol✱lowing an impressive debut season in Formula 1 with Sauber through 2018.
Leclerc won the FIA's rookie award last year after🤡 charging to the Formula 2 title in his🙈 first year in the category ahead of a move up to F1 in 2018 with Sauber.

Leclerc won the FIA's rookie award last year after charging to the Formula 2 title in his first year ౠin the category ahead of a move up to F1 in 2018 with Sauber.
The Monegasque racer put in a number of impressive displays through his first year in F1 to clinch ✅himself a move up to Ferrari for 2019, where he will partner four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel.
Leclerc's achꦓievements in✱ 2018 were recognised at the FIA's end-of-season prize giving in St. Petersburg on Friday as he was named Rookie of the Year once again.
"I’m extremely grateful to be receiving the best rookie of the year award for the second year in a row. These last two years have been amazing," Leclerc said in a video message after an ear infectioꦑn prevented him from flying to the gala.
"This first yꩵear in Formula🦩 1 has been great. Very difficulkt in teh first three races to get used to these cars, but after that it has been great with an amazing team behind me that has pushed me along and taught me all the basics of Formula 1.
"[I'm] e♛xtremely look꧋ing forward to the next challenges ahead, and see you soon on-track."
