McLaren adds F2’s Camara to F1 Young Driver Programme

McLaren has signed Formula 2 driver Sergio Sette Camara to its Formula 1 Young Driver Prograꦉmme in a test and develoܫpment role.

The 20-year-old Brazilian currently sits sixth in the 2018 F2 standings with Carlin, where he partners Lando Norris, who will graduate to F1 next seasoꦍn as Stoffel Vandoorne’s replaceꦆment.

McLaren says Camara will work closely with the team to provide “valuable support” to its racing programm🅷e throughout the 2019 camꦑpaign.

McLaren has signed Formula 2 driver Sergio Sette Camara to its Fo𓄧rmula 1 Young Driver Programme in a test and development role.

The 20-year-old Brazilian currently sits sixth in the 2018 F2🐠 standings with Carlin, where he partners Lando Norris, who will graduate to F1 next season as Stoffel⛄ Vandoorne’s replacement.

McLaren says Camara will work closely with the team to provide “valuable support” to its racing programm🌃e throughout the 2019 campaign.

“It’s my dream to one day become a Formula 1 driver, and I’d like to thank McLaren for giving me this incredible opportunity,” Camara said.

“My aim is to integrate myself in the team 𓂃and work as closely with them as possible; to listen, learn and help to develop as a dr𒀰iver, as well as support McLaren.”

McLaren sporting director Gil de Ferran added: “We’re delighted to welcome Sergio to McLaren and our Young Driver Progr✱amme.

“We’ve been following his progress for some time and believe he is a promising young talent with a real potential. We’re looking forward to working with him to develop his skills as a well-rounded driver, while havin🐎g him support our racing operations.”

Camara claimed his only win in F2 at Spa-Francorchamps during his maiden season in 2017, having previously cont❀ested European Formula 3.

While he is yet to win in ಌ2018, Camara has recorded eight podium appearances in what has been a consistent campaign.

Camara joins Norris and fellow ♔F2 rival Nyck de Vries in McLaren’s programme.
