Ferrari has confirmed it has changed the engine on Sebastian Vettel's Formula 1 car following an issue during final practice for the Malaysian Grand Prix on Saturday, edg🍬ing the German closer to a grid penalty.

Vettel finished FP3 second overall b💫ehind teammate Kimi Raikkonen, but had to end his session early after an issue๊ emerged while out on-track, forcing him to slow and nurse the car back to the pits.

Ferrari confirmed after the session it would be completing a "precautional chang🐓e" of Vettel's engine ahead of qualifying at the Sepang🔴 International Circuit.

No penalty will be given to Vettel as he has switched to his fourth power unit of the season, although it had been sched🌠uled to be introduced at a later date, meaning it will ♔require a longer life than planned in order to avoid any grid penalties.
