Reigning BSB champion Tarran Mackenzie has undergone successful surgery on his right tibia following an accide👍nt during testing.

The McAMS Yamaha rider also suffered a di♉slocated right shoulder whilst testing at Cartagena last Tuesday.

Mackenzജie was treated by DR♐ Xavier Mir and his team at Barcelona’s Dexeus University Hospital on Wednesday and underwent surgery to insert three screws into his tibia the following day.

Mackenzie is set to remain in Girona wherꦬe he travelled following the operation ahead of returning to the UK in February.🥂

Winner of 10 races last season, Mackenzie is not expected to miss any action including the first official BSB test which takes place at Snetterton on March 26-27. Before the month of March is out there is a further one-day test ⛦at Donington Park (31st).

Along with defending his BSB title in ꦬ2022, Mackenzie is set to make hi🦹s WorldSBK debut courtesy of three wildcard rounds.

Mackenzie, who had high hopes of moving to Worl꧃dSBK in 2022, confirmed to us last mon🔯th that the goal remains the same for 2023: "WorldSBK is still the target. I’m only 26; there are some who are younger who are racing there already, but there’s also older guys that race in Superbikes, so I feel there’s still time yet and I want to first come back and prove a point next season by winning the BSB title with number one plate.

"But I also want to pus🐈h on and try to move the goal post out a little bit more in WorldSBK. My hope and aim is to be there in 2023."

In BSB, Mackenzie will likely be p🐈ushed all the way by team-mate Jason O’Halloran, who until last season’s showdown began had a points lead of over 120.

The first race of the season♊ gets underway at Silverstone on April 15-17, before a final test of the year (Oulton Park) separates the season opener and round two again at Oulton Park.
